There are three parts to today’s lab:

  • A Howard Hughes Medical Institute virtual lab activity where you will examine several patients and attempt to make diagnoses
  • PhysioEx Exercise 6: Cardiovascular Physiology
  • Coloring pages that will help you understand the anatomy and function of the heart.

Cardiovascular Lab

Access the virtual lab here: https://media.hhmi.org/biointeractive/vlabs/cardiology2/

Before beginning the lab, you may wish to click around some of the tabs. In particular, the “Reference” tab will be useful. The very first activity will require you to visit the “Diagnostic Tools Guide.”

When you are ready to enter the lab, click on the door that says “Exam 1.” From there, just follow the prompts to conduct a variety of examinations and medical tests on the patients, and attempt to diagnose their illness.

Once you have completed all activities, you may wish to print out your “Quiz Details” page, which contains information that will be useful in studying for our final lab exam. (This can be easily done by clicking “Print,” and then choosing the options to save as a PDF. Upload file(s) to this assignment).

PhysioEx Exercise 6

Please note: Even though you can print out your results at the end of these PhysioEx activities, we HIGHLY recommend that you take your own notes as you work through the exercise. That will help you remember the material, and also be able to more quickly locate it when you are studying for the lab exam.
